Student Privacy & Choice
Your education journey belongs to you. These principles guide how we are building IEC: student choice, voluntary identity and clear boundaries around sponsorship. Detailed privacy information and account controls are still being developed.
Support Without Automatic Access
A First Nation, school or organization may sponsor access to IEC. That support must not automatically give anyone access to your searches, interests, saved programs or personal plans. Sponsored access and permission to view your private activity are separate decisions.
What a Sponsor May Know
The planned sponsorship system allows an organization to manage student invitations and know whether invited students have activated access. This is different from seeing what a student explores. Detailed dashboard information and any future aggregate reporting still need privacy review.
Sharing Should Be Your Choice
Any sharing of private student information should be intentional and transparent. Students should understand what would be shared, who would receive it and why before choosing. The detailed consent process and options for changing sharing choices are still being designed.
Identity Is Personal
IEC is built around Indigenous youth and welcomes all students. Sharing Indigenous identity is voluntary; exploring your options should not require proof of identity. Eligibility for a particular sponsored licence is a separate matter, and those eligibility rules still need to be finalized.
